Aftermath of a shooting

Let me first start by saying "If you find yourself in a position to have to pull the trigger you have made a series of major mistakes". I know it could happen but if you follow some of the basic steps the odds are greatly reduced.

Some of the steps we teach at CCW Point Blank are:

  • Avoid dangerous Persons, Places and or Things
  • Tactical Awareness Modes
  • Confrontational Avoidance
  • Use of Force Continuum
  • Opportunity-Ability-Jeopardy- Preclusion

So let’s say you are very unlucky and you have been attacked by a mad man and you have no alternative but to shoot. You have incapacitated the bad guy, what do you do next?

  • If you have not already done so call 911,(now it gets tricky) tell them only you have been involved in a shooting and ask for medical assistance for the bad guy,(yourself if needed) describe your self and the bad guy (this may help the police when they arrive).
  • When the police do arrive DO EVERYTHING THEY TELL YOU TO DO (they are responding to a shooting, pumped up and don’t know who is who)
  • After they get everything under control they will question you. This is probably the most important statement you may ever make.
  • You were attacked by a violent person and you had to use force to defend your life
  • Do not make any other statements until you have talked to an ATTORNEY

You have just gone through a traumatic mental and physical experience and at this time you can not relay on you mental abilities.

We have asked numerous Law Enforcement Officers about this and the vast majority has answered “How do you spell  M-I-R-A-N-D-A”. (valid point)

The NRA and MA Gun Lawyers have web sites to assist you, I would ask “How many Defensive Firearm Shootings have you be involved with and what was the outcome”. Be sure to check the references. CHL Protection Plan offers insurance that covers lawyer fees for criminal charges only. I can not vouch for them but worth looking into.

This is only a small portion of the CCW Point Blank section of Tactical Handgun Defense Concepts and should be viewed as such.
